This is the most long-running show in italian theatre history, being produced on italian and world theatres since the late forties. We all know that during the trial for plagiarism the lawyers of the Producers of FOD came out with the argument that Kurosawa's movie was based in its turn on Red Harvest and this comedy. I saw this for the first time on tv in the sixties or early 70's, in b&w. Now I have seen the dvd, featuring the same actor playing Harlequin now past his 80 years of age. The comedy has nothing to do with Red Harvest or Fistful. Harlequin becomes a servant for two different masters only to earn more money. And as the two are really lovers (though he killed her brother in a duel)  he doesn't play them against each other.

Reading the names of the actors in the last production linked above one can find a familiar one...
