I presume his world famous composition Caruso was his only hit outside latin countries.  But he was my favourites singer in the '60's, though few remember in Italy his first non hits. He started being a superstar in Italy in the 70's and all the more so in the '80's, but then I pick onlytwo or three songs that I like. Still he was a musician (jazz clarinet player  in the early '60's). Of the dozen of songs I really like this crazy 1966 version of James Brown in an invented english is strong:

A pity he became famous for his romantic songs.

He appeared also in that one, which contains at least some western elements: http://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Per_un_pugno_di_canzoni

I saw it about 30 years ago. I think it has a western story thread in which song clips produced indipendently from the movie are inserted. I only remember the yardbirds clip in bw, with the band dressed up in middle age jesters attire. maybe Clapton left the band because of that. Grin
