The film is very good. I had the pre-Criterion DVD of this title but didn't feel the need to get the Criterion DVD when they brought it out. But when they upgraded to Blu-ray, however.......
Seems like Oswald Morris died a couple of days ago at the age of 98. Apparently the Sept edition of Cinema Retro will contain a tribute to him:

Did my hunter-gatherer routine this morning. Came back with Blus of
A Hard Day's Night
and
Picnic At Hanging Rock
.
Picnic
comes with a copy of the source novel which, I understand, has been out of print in the US. Brilliant. For $20 you can have the best-looking home video version of the film (with panflute by Zamfir!) AND the book. Still, I predict D&D won't see the value . . .

I think the B&N sale is mainly good for recenly released titles. For the titles that have been out for a while, I think many can be bought new on Amazon Marketplace for not much more, or in some cases even less, than they cost in the B&N sale. Unless there are new releases you wanna buy, I'm not sure it's so worth waiting around for this B&N sale.

You're forgetting the $4 shipping charge amazon attaches to each title. I just spot checked several titles to test your contention: in every case, the shipping charge made every title more expensive than the current price at B&N. And then, there's the B&N member's discount, which, at least in NY state, takes care of the sales tax.
So, I'd say the B&N sales are worth it if you are buying a large number of titles AND/OR you are getting new releases.

B&N doesn't charge shipping for non-members?

I'm assuming in store purchases, which, of course, would have no shipping charges. I'm not sure what the mail-order arm does; maybe they offer free shipping with purchases exceeding a certain dollar amount?
