Criterions at Barnes & Noble are 50% off list price beginning today. The sale extends to July 30th.

Went out early and got a Blu-ray copy of Danny Boyle's first feature, Shallow Grave. I'll probably go back and get A Night To Remember on Blu. Don't know if I'll get any DVDs, but I might. The great thing about the sale is that it applies even to the Criterion July new releases as they come out.

I just looked at two Criterion titles on B&N's website, and both of them have mistaken descriptions:

Stagecoach is inaccurately described as widescreen http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dvd-stagecoach-claire-trevor/3624601?ean=715515052511

Ace in the Hole is inaccurately described as pan and scan http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dvd-ace-in-the-hole-kirk-douglas/3853166?ean=715515024723

Yeah, I go to B&N to buy, not to get info. I know more about the products then they do.

or you can just visit the Barnes and Nobles store on the world wide web  Wink

p.s. why is this topic in the Leone General Discussion board, rather than the Off-Topic Discussion?

Because it isn't the extremely anal Clint Eastwood board where the mods would immediately pounce on it  Grin

True. The Eastwood board is ridiculous, the moderators control how you breathe there.

the reason I noticed this is that I was actually looking for this thread (in the Off-Topic disciussion_ but couldn't find it, till I decided to try th General Discussion.

Still, after all that, you know you can't resist, cj. The thread will be moved; just a question of when Wink

I look for every opportunity to post outside the Off Topic thread as it is ridiculously overloaded already.

indeed it is (understandably so, since there are many more non-Leone topics than Leone-topics. That's why I started the "microblogging" thread, cuz there are so many times you wanna mention one point, and don't expect there to be many responses, and that gets rid of it all on one thread, saving what would be numerous other threads that wouldn't be more than a page long anyway).

I got that coupon too. I think I'm getting 3 Women and Days of Heaven on Blu-Ray and Short Cuts on DVD.

Nah.  Call me old fashioned but I like to buy books and movies in book and movie stars.

Is there a code? Why not share it with us all?

I'd never blind buy any movie that's available at Netflix.
With Netflix, I have almost any movie I want, so there's no reason for me to buy any dvd/br ever (blind or not), except in the rare cases where I just NEED to have access to the movie anytime I want it, instantly (like with Leone's movies). Even with great movies, I think watching 'em once a year is about right, to keep it fresh. So Netflix is perfect for me. Aside from Leone's movies, I own less than 20 titles  Wink
