I've just finished reading the two-tomes voluminous collection of reviews by an italian cinema critic (who I have quoted elsewhere here as a western expert) and in his laudatory contemporary review of Quien Sabe? he reveals how Leone at the time was planning a movie (titled with the famous line from GBU) about Gaetano Bresci, the anarchist who, in 1900, came back to Italy from the USA and killed the then King of Italy. I don't remember having read this elsewhere.
