A cop in a dystopian Europe investigates a serial killings suspect using controversial methods written by his now disgraced former mentor.

Trailer

I haven't seen any thread about it so I figured I'd post one. The trailer is terrible but then again I don't think there is anyway to really sell the movie. I tend to re-watch it every couple of months, not so much for the plot but for everything else. I'll upload some pictures from the Criterion DVD when I get a chance.

I can't find my Criterion DVD anymore, so I'm hoping this will get a Blu-ray release soon. I remember seeing this for the first time, soon after it came out, at the Seattle International Film Festival. After the showing I had such a headache!

That's what you get, Drink, for being such an annoying Melville fanboy.

A Blu-ray release of it would be great but I don't see the demand for it. If anybody were to release a Blu-ray, including Criterion, I would figure that it would be part of a box set of his other films than a single release.

I watched 30' of this neo-noir in the wave of Dark City and then decided to read a book to forestall impending sleep. Recommended to real Von Trier (or Wenders or Herzog) fans.
