Keven Spacey's character absolutely reveals itself toward the ending and proves to be one of the great assets of the film.

The execution here is everything, of course... but it's not better executed than Scott Pilgrim. I'd say it's even a tad under. Still execution wise, it's definitely under the best The World's End sequences. Also, I'm not sure it has the same rewatch value as HF, SP and TWE (ie can i see it 20 times and love it more each time?) but only time (actually, 20 times) will tell.

But hey, DJ, I won't throw the stone at someone for loving an Edgar Wright movie. Love it as much as you can. My Edward needs -and deserves- as much love as he can get since he's never gonna see a good box office.

Not that they didn't clear the Simon and Garfunkel song "Baby Driver"; rather, T-Rex's "Deborah" (which is kind of important to the film).

Surely there must be more to this story than sheer ineptitude. Maybe who holds the rights isn't quite a clear as the article is making it out to be.

The rights holder changed recently, so it may be a case of clearing rights initially before the project launched, then during or after production discovering the change, then attempting to secure a release and failing to do so (because the new rights holder wanted to hold Sony up for a big payout--a strategy that may well work). They apparently secured the rights to all the other music.

I liked some of the scenes which had a musical rhythm, but all the gangsters were son incredibly boring characters, and the large parts of the final action scenes were disappointing. Scott Pilgrim was so much better.

Here's a really good visual analysis of the film's strengths: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8d4xIgLKl8
