Voice actors for Restored Version

I was just wondering if anyone was aware who the other voice actors are in the restored cut other than Simon Prescott filling in for Lee Van Cleef?

Wallach and Eastwood dubbed their own scenes, 35 years later. are you referring to the voice actors that dubbed the minor actors?

TCM showed GBU tonight. The end titles for the Extended English-labguage version list the following voice actors

Matt Keeslar, Paul Pape, Simon Prescott, David Sargent, Burton Sharp, Andre Sogliuzzo, Christopher Weeks, and Tom Wyner

However, it does not say which voice actor dubbed which character in the movie

Surely, with today's technology they could manipulate the vocal track of every LVC film that was ever made and splice it onto the Southern Cuisine scene.

Roger Ebert lost his voice due to botched surgery for throat cancer, so some Swedish company has made a computer program where they take all the recordings of Ebert's voice (from past tv shows, talk show appearances, dvd commentaries, etc.) and put them into the computer program so that he could type in whatever he wants to say and his real voice from the past says those words  http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=roger+ebert+voice&oq=roger+ebert+voice&gs_l=youtube.3..0l2.3330.6717.0.6850.19.12.0.7.7.0.195.958.9j3.12.0...0.0...1ac.1.UOecZDhWR5w

Unfortunately, I am sure that wouldn't work for dubbing a movie, since, as you can hear on those YouTube videos, it's far from perfect, cuz they splice together words that were said at different times. eg. if he types into the computer "Let's go to the store," those five words might be taken from 5 different recordings he made at different times in his life, and in different pieces of different sentences. so besides havinga  sligtly different voice for each word, it'd also not be said in the proper cadence, cuz each word is taken from a different sentence.

So while it's great for Ebert and his wife that they can hear his real voice, I'm afraid it wouldn't work for dubbing movies. No, for any future work that they dub for LVC, they'd have to use voice actors.


BTW, at least with LVC, his parts that were chopped and re-dubbed by Simon Prescott were whole scenes, so the voice sounds the same within each scene. But for Aldo Giuffre, they chopped out part of his scene, so they had to get a new actor to dub the restored bit within the same scene, so there is a noticeable change in his voice in the same scene; that's really bad.

IMO, you can make a good argument that they should have just discarded the dubbing of Giuffre's voice from 1967, and just re-dubbed Giuffre's ENTIRE dialogue for the 2003 restoration with one voice actor. That way, the whole scene would have the same voice. I am a real purist, but in this case, at least on the English version it's not like it's Giuffre's real voice anyway on the 1967 dubbing. So rather than have one dude from 1967 dub half his dialogue and another dude in 2003 dub the other half in the same scene and it sounds so obviously different, how about just dub the whole thing over with one actor?

Once they're gonna re-dub voices for the 2003 version, I don't think it's a violation of "originalism" to just use a single actor to dub all of Giuffre's dialogue

One entertainment art you don't see very much anymore are the mimics and impressionists, Frank Gorshin, Ritch Little, they both used to be seen a lot on the variety shows in the sixties and seventies. They could be quite good. Ritch Little is probably playing Vegas. It maybe that there are just not enough a variety in today's Hollywood actors voices to support them?

Im sure in the future they could do further manipulation on the stresses per word, a bit like what they do on autotune but far less crude.  So the final result wouldn´t sound too "chopped-up".

However with autotune we don´t want Angel eyes sounding like Cher!!

After I heard Eli Wallach's dubbed voice 35 years later, especially in the grotto scene I thought to myself "Man, if they ever make a sequel to TGTBTU and decide to have Eli Wallach as Tuco, he might still have what it takes to steal the show and at his age!"
