I don't know.  I saw Navajo Joe and wasn't that impressed...the theme song sounds awfully corny too.

Why?  Because Burt Reynolds deep down is just a corny, cheesy guy...a big ham.  I just can't take him seriously...even if I try.

"Sharky's Machine" was a damn fine movie as well. A lot tougher and grittier than you might expect.  Burt did a lot of amazingly good and diverse movies in the 70s... "The End", "The Longest Yard", etc.  but he (or his agent) suddenly seemed to lose the ability to pick out the good projects. I think his last watchable film was "Stick"... until "Boogie Nights".

Hi Cigar Joe.
You would probably do a lot better getting some kind of synopsis off the computer cause I've just got a fading memory of it.  I saw it as a teenager and haven't seen it since.  I just remembered that I liked it cause Reynolds was serious in it, kind of like in Deliverance.
Anyway, it seems that Reynolds kidnaps or winds up with the wife of a wealthy man.   She is trying to get away from the husband.  Reynolds tries to take care of her, but the hunband's henchmen are out to get him.  The title comes from the fact that Reynolds used to be in love with an Indian girl, his wife I believe, who is now dead.  Her name was Cat Dancing.    The movie is probably good once.  I would watch it again however.
I can't help anymore than that .   Sorry Cigar Joe.

I too really like 'The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing' as his best
western venture, and '100 Rifles' for humor.

But seriously, I tend to struggle between 'Sharky's Machine'
and 'Gator' as favorite all around.

I saw that the Carnegie has The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing on DVD but someone checked it out in the last twenty-four hours. Shocked

I'd be interested in seeing it, if only because the behind-the-scenes stuff is so interesting.

That's what you get, Drink, for being such an annoying Melville fanboy.
