How many years between the time Frank put the harmonica in ManHarmonica's mouth and the time ManHarmonica put the same harmonica in Franks mouth?

I'd say about 25 years at least

Well something like that, yeah. The movie doesn't really offer any hint about it.

The more interesting question is why the hanged man is his brother instead of his father. The age difference makes him look like being his father.

I don't think it was as uncommon back in the days. A lot of times people had as many children as they (thought they) could.

That's a "realistic" explanation for an "aesthetical" question.

"Once Upon a Time" is a formulation that invokes a non-specific and therefore timeless past. Events of that golden age do not unfold at the same rate as those we experience in our own debased age. Harmonica has likely sought Frank for centuries.

in fact its off- topic in this theme; anyway I utilize its title "How many years"; I noticed its almost exactly 10 years after the first post was placed here on March 13 2003; no matter what was said on OUTTITW so far, hope a lot is to be said, since the inner message of the ideas compressed in this movie presents an endless topic to be discussed and elaborated.
