OUATITW of course

and I like the beginning sequence to The Outlaw Josey Wales.  It sets the opening of the film well and when Eastwood says I'll be joining you then and then the music starts up.  Not bad.

The opening to Jaws is pretty damn good, and it incorporates a dynamite musical theme which is the hallmark of a Leone western.

I always dug the opening to Leone: The Professional, the Luc Besson movie. And of course OUATITW.

For  frills
Mad Max all 20 mins of it. ending with a the shot up into Max's face.

Carpenter's The Thing but only really has that power when your a virgin to the film. Norwegian Helicopter & the wolf bounding across the snow plain.

 8) hola amigos. yep, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK is probably my favourite opening to a movie; a cracking summary of the whole INDIANA JONES myth. PLUS! I love the opening to an underrated (actually pretty much UNKNOWN!) animated fantasy film called FIRE & ICE - the sequence features a 'witch's narration' over some beautiful Frank Frazetta artwork

Oh man, I shot Marvin in the face!

The Kill Bill: Volume 1 opening sequence for me has to be the best ever! David Carradine's voice is so powerful, and as we can't see his face it makes him seem that much more powerful. The black and white shot of the blood splattered Bride just laying there on the ground. The words Carradine speaks are also so powerful. And we see a hand wiping away some of the blood from her face with a handkerchief with 'Bill' written on it is just remarkable. And then "No Kiddo, this moment, this is me at my most ... masochistic" suddenly the Bride speaks "Bill.... It's you bab" and before she can finish off her sentence we hear this loud gun shot. Blood just splattering out from her head. For me that has to be one of Tarantino's 'genius' moments. It is so unexpected. Bang Bang playing right after is also so relevant.

I also like the opening sequence to Once Upon A Time In The West, but I lke the Henry Fonda scene which occurs after it much more better and feel this scene with "As a Judgement" playing is so classic Leone!!

I've just seen El Mariachi for the 1st time and that has a powerful beginning with a modern SW feel.  The rest of the film does not dissapoint.

Yes Robert Rodriguez is a huge fan of Leone's. The El Mariachi character also resembles "The Man With No Name"
