It's only a matter of time before D&D makes this thread, so I might as well beat him to the punch. And in the meantime: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film4/blu-ray_reviews_59/shoah_blu-ray.htm

Never seen it. I've been wanting to for years. I'll wait for a public library nearby to get the new Blu-Ray before I check it out...don't exactly have $80 to drop on a blind-buy. Those screens look fascinating though.

Have you got $40? The B&N Criterion Sale should be little more than a month away.

Is there any service where I can see this in Blu-Ray hi-def quality (or rent it)? Even with the Barnes and Noble sale I'm not willing to drop $50 on a long film that I'll probably only watch once. I want the best quality possible if I'll be watching this renowned 'cinematic masterpiece' for 10 hours.

The supplements include 2 (relatively) shorter films, so you're not "just" paying for the 10-hour experience.

I managed to find a Criterion standard DVD from the library. That will do.

I don't buy movies any more unless I'm fairly certain I'll be watching them multiple times. I've never seen Shoah but I've got a good guess that I'll probably watch it once or twice ever.

do the supplements include the rest of the Jan Karski interview? I read somewhere that Lanzmann recently released the rest of that interview, calling it "The Karski Report." Is it all included on the Criterion dvd or blu ray?

rrpower: yeah, I am sure you won't want to watch Shoah more than once.

Yes.

The Karski Report is also on the dvd, or only on the blu ray?
