RIP to the guy who wrote most of the sentences I couldn't stop saying and writing everywhere in my teenage years.

The way he dismissed these films is still quite a mystery to me.

Well yeah, it's probably because of his problems with Leone (credits + money). A betrayal (as he saw it) would be sufficient for most people to dismiss what came from the partnership.

He only co-wrote all this stuff. The western he wrote alone was Death Rides a Horse, which is not half as good as the Leone westerns or Il mercenario.
