@ Novocento, probably but I don't speak portuguese.

If any of you still need a little coaxing to attend this concert, here is defenitly a high point, the Leone spaghetti western medley:

OUATITW, DYS and the Ecstasy of gold ...

I am extremely distraught over the possibility that I will be in the same room as Susanna Rigacci. How can a man that is such a brilliant musician use a soprano that is so bad? I mean, how do you go from Edda Del'orso to THAT? I mean, listen ti Carla Mafioletti in this performance of OUATITW by Andre Reiu https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzmfvRbSPuU (which I have shared on this site before). Is Rigacci even in the same universe as Mafioletti?
This 15-year old Czech girl Patricia Janeckova is unfrigginbelievable too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEpFQOezabo (is she even a soprano? wtf do I know about music?) all i know is Susanna Rigacci is awful

alright, alright, I guess I'm just gonna have to resign myself to Que Sera Sera and get excited for this show and whatever will be will be

I thought the same about Susanna at first, but seeing Morricone perform his work in person is overwhelming to a true fan.

Note:
In 2007 she was on stage for only the Leone westerns medley, 3 tunes out of more than 20.
She came back for one of the 3 encores for Ecstasy of Gold.

In 2007, Morricone only played the Untouchables' main title.
Now it would seem, he has made a medley of it.
I hope this is what we get in Brooklin.
Just love the haunting Death theme.

so if I wanna be familiar with all the music (or at least as much as possible) that Morricone will play at the concert, which non-Leone movies should I make sure to have seen, besides The Untouchables, The Mission, and Cinema Paradiso?

Or, run trhough the concert videos on YouTube and appreciate the music for what it is or its execution. It is fascinating to wacht a full concert orchestra at play.
The movies themselves are not all Oscar worthy.
Not to worry, more than half the concert will be of work you'll easily recognize.

BTW There are more than 600 views of this post, hope most of these people go to the concert. I received my ticket by mail last Friday.

well name some of the movies for me!

as of now, I believe you and I are the only ones on these boards with tixx for the Barclay's Center... unless someone else here is going but didn't mention it. There are a few members in the Northeast; so I hope some more will decide to go within the next 5 months.

If memory serves, at least Cigar joe, Firecracker and Peacemaker went to the 2007 concert.

For english titles of some of the movies check out this Australian concert setlist from March 2nd 2012:

There is also In the line of fire, an enjoyable Eastwood flick and Burn for Abolisson...

The last thread was really nice, with that member of the choir joining the discussion...

It was precisely Sandra, the choir member who alerted me a few months ago of the upcoming US Morricone concerts.

I was sending her information on the release of the UN concert from 2007 in which she took part, the same orchestra and choir who played RCMH for us the following night.

According to Susanna Rigacci's website, she was on stage with Ennio no later than last night in Kiev.
She has done every concert since Ennio started touring in 2002, so expect her in NY and LA.

After a while, you get use to her rendition...

okay, I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll be at a concert with the greatest composer and worst soprano.

I have 5 months now to see some more Morricone movies and get excited  :)

"I was sending her information on the release of the UN concert from 2007 in which she took part, the same orchestra and choir who played RCMH for us the following night."

- yes, and I gotta thank you for that info (I believe you posted it in one of the threads here); until then I thought I had all of his official pro-shot concert videos - Verona 2002, Munich 2004, Venice 2007 (box set), so this was a nice find!

Btw, here are the first reports (in russian) from yesterday's concert, some nice fotos:

http://www.phl.ua/_site/src/session_detail.aspx?_id=54693&_int_segment=0

http://show.obozrevatel.com/article/82651-kontsert-ennio-morrikone-v-kieve-proshel-s-superanshlagom.htm

http://ru.tsn.ua/foto/legendarnogo-ennio-morrikone-v-kieve-nagradili-medalyu-nacionalnoy-muzykalnoy-akademii-331429.html

It says the concert was more than two hours long, no intermission, they praise Morricone's stamina who went backstage just for a couple of minutes - managing probably to have only a sip of water.

They praise Rigacci as well.  >:D

@ Milan

Yes, the UN video is nice but a little short compared to the others you and I have.
But having seen this orchestra in person it has a special meaning for me.

With Google translation, the articles also mentioned how packed the hall was with people having to sit in the aisles.

BTW Are you going to one of the US concerts?
