Most intriguing theory. Do you guys know what music from other films are suspected to be rejected GBU bits?

As for the 2nd part of "rope bridge", I believe it was intended for the grotto scene instead of the "shooting gallery". It fits perfectly:

RE: your discussion of how Leone-rejected Morricoen music wound up in other directors' films:

that may well be true, but it's also intersting that Frayling has actually mentioned the opposite: that Leone took pride in taking Morricone music that other directors had rejected, and then turning them into hit music with his own films. I believe he discusses this in the FOD chapter of STDWD; I think the main theme of FOD (which, as we know, was an arrangement Morricone had composed for Woody Guthrie's "Pastures of Plenty") was rejected by another director before Leone took it.

The music on the expanded GBU soundtrack is taken from the actual tracks that were mixed into the final version.
Thus "Manco" is what is refered to as a "dialed down" track. That is the re-recording mixer turned the volume down
during the mix.
So, for that reason it is unlikely the Grottto scene music would be preserved. Also, the shooting gallery scene directly follows Rope bridge and the album is presented in chronlogical order.

The version of the extended cut rereleased in 2004 used different music, from the Padre Ramirez Mission segment.
Not sure if that was correct but the most recent version uses yet another piece of music. Neither use the You Tube/"rope Bridge" cue.

I stand by my original speculation. Maybe someone can try to sync them up.
