Always preferred Olivia de Havilland, but Joan was no slouch.

Along with O'Toole and Tom Laughlin that makes three notable deaths within 24 hours.

It's always sad when a Golden Age actor/actress dies; it's a little connection to the past being taken away.

But this means more to me because Fontaine was one of my very very favorites (and I did prefer her to her sister, but who cares; they were both great). It's a shame two sisters were feuding for so many decades and, even as they were both in their 90's, never made up.

RIP  Cry

Yes, a very dear actress to me too, superb in Suspicion.

Sorry she didn't make it at least to 100...

Always preferred Olivia de Havilland, but Joan was no slouch.
And at 97, Olivia is still with us. We have a winner.

One more, sadly.  Ray Price wasn't an actor, but he was a great country singer.  So many in just a couple of days. I preferred  Olivia de Havilland over Joan Fontaine, nevertheless, she was good. RIP to all we have lost this year.

But not as impressive as what her sister was able to accomplish. Check out The Dark Mirror (46), The Snake Pit (48), The Heiress (49), My Cousin Rachel (52), Not As a Stranger (55). Great performances, and all different.

No doubt, Olivia was great too.... I prefer Joan. (Maybe I just have something against anyone who appeared in Gone with the Wind  Wink ) But I will check out those movies.
