"On Saturday 25th June, Ennio Morricone was awarded with a plaque in recognition of 350.000 sold tickets for his '60 Years of Music World Tour'.
The award was presented to the Maestro during a sold-out open air concert on the Saint-Peter's Square in Ghent."

I had to double check the date the other day in order to avoid planning conflicts, but yeah, I'm still going Smiley on the 24th.

First up... "A homage to Giuseppe Tornatore". That's what I like to see!

We're halfway.
The program actually differs from what is written. The hommage to Tornatore featured 2 pieces from Cinema Paradisio (hopefully) and the Leone part had no Man With The Harmonica (!!! That one was a big reason for me to buy the ticket).

Sorry to hear about  "Man with the harmonica" missing from the programme - if it's any consolation, same thing happened during concerts in june in England and Belgium, a quote from a review of the UK concert:

"Slight tweak to the programme, with the Leone suite reduced to the familiar four pieces (which was a shame)."

I bet the Hateful Eight kicked ass, though.

Do you think Tornatore gets upset when all anyone ever focuses on is Cinema Paradiso?

I think Tornatore is easier to get along with than Morricone  Grin

Yes it's what happened. He removed The Man With The Harmonica and the GBU piece to make room for the 2 Cinema Paradisio ones.

I bet the Hateful Eight kicked ass, though.

It really did.

The big difference between this programme and the one from the previous tour is that this one is more focused on chords. The previous ones had something more "military-like" with songs like Here's To You and Il deserto dei Tartari.

Why didn't the Cinema Paradiso ones just replace the 3 original Tornatore ones in the program (The Best Offer, The Legend of 1900, Baaria)?

Actually, I'm not sure the opening music was The Best Offer. I'm not familiar with that score but I haven't recognized the song (I checked the whole album yesterday).
Also, although I'm usually not very fond of The Legend of 1900's soundtrack, it kicked ass.
