It is obvious that Morricone will never come to America, but I just got tickets for a Metallica concert in Long Island on May 17. At least I'll hear The Ecstacy of Gold  Evil

Hey, a 'tallica fan, sweet! Saw them in 2004 (St Anger tour) and 2012 (Black album anniversary tour); both nice gigs, and I'll never forget the mighty "Harvester of sorrow" during the first gig... these concerts were a huge thing in my small country (Serbia). After the horrible 90ies under Milosevic when western bands avoided us like the plague, Metallica really opened the door with that first concert in 2004. Since then I saw the Stones, AC/DC, Clapton, Dylan, Cohen, ZZ Top, Motorhead, Roger Waters, Robert Plant, etc, etc. That was unthinkable during 1991-2000.

Of course I am a Metallica fan. Where do you think "drink and destroy" comes from? Searching ........  Evil

I saw them on St. Anger tour in 2004 on Long Island. Death Magnetic tour in 2009 in Long Island, and Madison Square Garden in New York in 2010. Now, it's back to Long Island. General Admission for all 4 shows  Evil

I have been checking out their setlists for the recently completed tour of Europe and South America, and it looks like they are playing five songs from the new album. I bought it but haven't listened to it yet. Have you listened to it? Is it any good?

Other than two songs from Death Magnetic (Unforgiven 3 and The Day That Never Comes), they have not made a good new song in more than 15 years.

Always a great live show  Evil Evil Evil Evil

my Metallica show is coming up on Wednesday night  Evil

to get myself pumped up, I've been watching some Metallica videos on YouTube recently.

Here is the opening of their first show in 2017 ... Morricone fans can enjoy hearing 20,000 Koreans singing along to Ecstasy of Gold https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7s0ZuC2SxQ

I'm sure those fans feel that The Ecstasy of Gold is one of the best things Metallica have ever written.

Wow, after such an inspiring intro, why would anyone bother to stay for the concert?

Metallica played Metlife Stadium in New Jersey last night. Here is full video of the show, with The Ecstasy of Gold, of course, at beginning https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaRwmsVQm5w

If you're just interested in The Ecstasy of Gold, here is a better video from last night with just EoG and their first song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06BUJ0sLLvg

My show is Wednesday at Nassau Coliseum  Evil

Awesome  Evil Evil Evil

I was in GA, 5-10 rows deep, right near one of the mics. For the two songs that use acoustic and electric, James had the two guitars set up at the mic stand right in front of me: Fade to Black and Unforgiven. I got a great vid on my phone of Fade to Black.

Killer setlist, eh?  Smiley We got Blackened and Harvester. How about SANITARIUM! And two songs from Kill 'Em All: Four Horsemen and Seek & Destroy (now all SLWB people know where my board name comes from. (I used to have the same name on the old Metallica boards - haven't been there in years).

And Rob played a killer Anesthesia - how awesome is that??!!

here is The Ecstasy of Gold and the first song of of the show. In this video, during EoG in this video, you see Metallica as they are about to enter the arena. (as James says, this is the only arena show of what is otherwise a stadium tour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnR6qE_5LDw

and here is a video from inside the arena of EoG plus the first Metallica song (Hardwired ... to Self Destruct) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G02t1o-cE_8

here is the final song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1cPgIToctM
