One of the first actors I remember having watched as a child in those crappy movies he shot as a teen.

Very sad to hear of his passing Sad

I don't think I've ever seen any of his child movies (but I definitely wanna see his HUCK FINN, as I've seen just about every other film version of the greatest American novel ever written), but I've seen some of his adult movies, and really liked him.
Thankfully for all of us, God gave him lots of time Smiley

Lots of wives, too (8!), though all of them were not blessings. Still, I'd love to be able to say I'd been married to Ava Gardner, if even for a year.

But as careers go, who had a longer run? Rooney started in the silents!

I've got The Black Stallion cued up and will watch it tonight.

TCM will be having a 24-hour Rooney tribute beginning on Monday 4/13/14 at 6:00 AM EST. The full schedule is here http://www.tcm.com/schedule/index.html?tz=EST&sdate=2014-04-13

Of the 13 films that TCM will be showing, all are from between 1933 and 1947. Rooney 80-year career in feature films - why not show films from a bunch of different periods of his career, rather than concentrating on a single 15-year period???

One of the films that will be showing is Boys Town - I know it's a famous film that I've never seen, but from the plot synopsis my guess is that it is some schmaltzy film about boys getting reformed, which doesn't interest me at all. Is it a really good movie? I won't DVR it unless someone here recommends it.

As of now, my DVR is set to record The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Human Comedy, and Killer McCoy.
