Have you seen LGG?

No, that's why I only assume. Indirect means that there are no direct scenes which were copied, but like in your examples some ideas were the basis for ideas in GBU. But all your quotes only show some very vague influences, which are more important for GBU's genesis then for the actual film.

I saw an articles (from a few years ago) on Bruce Goldstein, director of repertory programming at Film Forum
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/12/nyregion/to-film-forums-showman-new-york-city-is-worlds-greatest-movie-set.html?pagewanted=all

http://news.moviefone.com/2010/10/01/bruce-goldstein-interview-film-forum-heist-retrospective/

The second article it says he is co-president of reissue film distributor Rialto Pictures.

So I just sent him an email and said, lotsa fans are interested in seeing LGG, it's never been released before in USA, etc., would he consider trying to get the movie released on Region 1/region A DVD/BRD. What the hell, it's worth a shot Wink

So Film Forum's repertory office got back to me with a message from Bruce Goldstein, in response to my query about getting LGG released on DVD in USA. It turns out that there are rights-complications with LGG; that's why it hasn't been released on DVD in USA, and that's also why Film Forum only had one showing of the movie.

-------------------

Here is the text of the email they sent me:

Bruce says itís unlikely this will ever be on DVD, as the rights are very complicated. This is why were only able to show it once.

Best,

The Repertory Office

So for now, I guess the Region 2 DVD is the only way to go.
