Yeah yeah and the distance between Terlingua and Washington is greater that the one between Paris and Moscow Wink

Anyway, here is one of the drone shots I did of the arch the other day. Please don't share it, it's very raw, the color correction isn't good, and I haven't even cleared the rights yet (they're shot with a drone that belong to a production company, that I had with me to shoot a movie I have a contract for). Anyway, here is the link so you guys can see what's left of the arch as well as its surroundings:

What's with the piss-yellow color grading?

I thought about you when I graded it Smiley

Can you hitch a ride on a drone? Looks like it'd be fun  Wink

If you're under 1 kilogram you might find a way.

We actually ran into a fierce sand storm going through Monument Valley. Between Mexican Hat and Monument Valley, the air gradually got more and more red.  Eventually it got so thick, it kind of reminded me of driving through white-out blizzard conditions in NH only with red sand instead of snow.   It sand blasted our car and we never even saw any of the great "mitten" buttes.  We thought we were gonna die in this storm at times.

Here is a picture I caught of the storm rolling in on us just as we were driving out.

Nice! You have to go back there though.

Funny thing is, me and my wife actually drove right by this when we moved from NH to CA.  We drove through Mexican Hat and on through Monument Valley and onward towards Page, AZ. This is before I had ever heard of OUTIW, so I would have never known about this arch at the time.

I've lived in Arizona since 1967, and all we knew about the arch location back then was that it "was somewhere in Utah on the Indian reservation", so not real good directions.  So I never went there back when it was likely intact still, didn't get there until mid 2000s.  I had posted photos then, but think they've been lost in the recent PhotoSucket fiasco so I'm trying this convoluted way:

I still don't see any picture.

Where do you live in Arizona?

Hmmm - the 3 pictures still show up on my computer screen in my recent post, and even in Cigar Joe's post....don't understand this stuff

Maybe one can see them in my other post at this site http://www.mazdatrucking.com/forum/showthread.php/11150-The-good-the-bad-amp-the-ugly

I have a place in Phoenix and one near Prescott.  Let's just say that the Phoenix climate in summers is not user friendly !!!  So most of my summers I spend up north at higher elevation...

Was there near dusk on the 7th of August, thunderheads, some rain, and the sunset.

Very nice pics, CJ! Thanks for sharing Afro

Do you have any shots of the arch?

No, we hit a squall of thundershowers as we got to the valley and we were driving a 2008 low slung Mustang convertible, driving up the old airport road there is a fork to the arch and there was a huge puddle completely across the clay road plus it was getting dark fast. Didn't want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere plus the wife wanted to get out of Dodge. It was the end of a long drive from Vegas and we still had two hours plus to get to Flagstaff where we booked a room. We spent longer than expected in The Grand Canyon.

PS the huge puddle is just behind me in the second from last picture. I also took some videos.

You were SO close.  You could have walked to it from the 163, less than 1.5 miles.
