Nothing special, it could have been a made for tv were it not for the cast, the photography (in his cool tones reminds me of the other Boston based Friends of Eddie Coyle. BTW, why the  action of the novel was moved to Boston is a mystery) and Uschi Digard (who's sexier than RW here).  But the plot develops quite fast and the comedy quite effective I remember the poster in front of the cinema but for unknown reasons I didn't manage to watch it at the time. I did later on tv.
