"Creuse..."

« : September 02, 2004, 11:57:18 AM »

please excuse my english. It's so bad because i'm french.
In this wonderful movie, there is a thing i don't understand: why does Mortimer own the same watch his sister?
It's a copy????
It was a present from her boyfriend, who's killed by the Indian. How did he find this watch???

Thank you...

Most likely explanation Mortimer's sister and her husband had matching watches - kind of like lockets. Indio takes the sister's watch, and Mortimer keeps the dead husband's watch as a memento of his sister. Either that or the husband got matching watches for his wife and brother-in-law.

It's class.

i think the watch element of the film is the best - with the flashback and the melody, because for the first time you see the emergence of the Leone style. Fistful hinted towards it but was too reliant on Kurosawa, but FAFDM's flashbacks, the revenge motive, the music - this is where Leone's trademark style is apparent first  ::)

The final duel, the music mixed with the sound of the watch. Really great.

the music goes down, silence for a second, and the music of the watch goes on... we go back to reality... the music finishes slowly... BANG!

Do we ever see what photo is in Indios watch. If his sister is in Mortimers watch do we assume her husband was in Indios / her watch ??? ???

But maybe Mortimer's watch was originally meant to be Mortimer's. And the other watch was the husband's, and in the flashback we don't see the husband presenting the watch to the sister, but he's just showing his new watch to his wife. The sister didn't even have a watch.
Just a not so serious thought... :P

I'm using InterVideo WinDVD 6 Platinum. Nothing real fancy. I'm just used to the series and like it, so I'm sticking with it  :) To capture stills I just have to press a keyboard key or a button in the player and the image is added to an album which I can save as .bmp or .jpg. I'm sure there are other great freeware DVD players out there. Try your luck at download.com
