It was a bit more comedic than I like Westerns to be; but otherwise I really enjoyed it

UPDATE: at the time I wrote the earlier post that I thought
100 Rifles was a ripoff of
GBU and
The Wild Bunch, it was cuz i had not yet seen any other Westerns that take place at the time of the Mexican Revolution, and I was unaware that that sub-genre existed. So I figured that the timing and other aspects seemed similar; therefore film was a ripoff (which I would have been wrong about anyway cuz of the dates of release, as Groggy pointed out
). But in the time since that post, I have become aware that there are indeed many Westerns set around the time of the Mexican Revolution; so the similar setting and some other elements in no way indicate any sort of ripoff whatsoever. So I thank Groggy for correcting me and informing of the "Zapata Westerns," which, though at the time I was unaware of, I have since seen several of. So yeah,
100 Rifles is not necessarily a ripoff of any other movie. My bad
btw, I still disagree with Groggy's opinion of the movie, which I enjoyed. I only saw it once, like a year ago, but I recall thinking it was like a 7/10.
And on an unrelated point, I just wanted to mention that Jim Brown was actually a good actor in his own right, and not just a cameo. (As opposed to the piece of shit O.J. Simpson, who is so bad in
The Towering inferno, it's embarrassing; although I guess one acting job he was good at was successfully pretending that gloves don't fit). I can't stand Brown personally, but I reluctantly have to admit that I was surprised to see that he did a good job in the couple of Westerns in which I've seen him
