What about me?

I THINK there should be a topic forum to discuss American television westerns.
A slew have been released on dvd and are ripe for discussion:
GUNSMOKE
LAWMAN
RIFLEMAN
HAVE GUN, WILL TRAVEL
WANTED;DEAD OR ALIVE....

what say yo'all?

I don't know if we need a separate forum, but I'd definitely like to get some recommendations.

I've seen bits from a lot of shows, which one or two are the darkest, the most visually interesting and the most complex? The Rifleman?

Claudia, we need you to appear in LOST COMMAND. It's gonna revolutionize the war genre..

Lucas actually kills quite a few people in the Rifleman series.  I saw one the other day where an Army officer wanted revenge because Lucas had shot his on in a fair fight.  This officer kept swatting himself with his riding crop as he got madder.....

I saw a few minutes of an early Bonanza the other day, remarked to Mrs. Cusser who completely different Bonanza was from a spaghetti western.  Couldn't those Cartwrights afford any different clothes?  At least those clothes were always sparkling clean, and if "the boys" ever liked a gal, she was for sure dead by the end of the hour, the Bonanza curse.  But at least anyone's paralysis, blindness, amnesia would also get miraculously cured by the end of the hour !

Today by chance I turned on The Rifleman; the 1961 episode guest starred both Buddy Hackett and Lee Van Cleef, and neither got killed, and Lucas also didn't kill anyone in this episode.

Google tells me that in 4.5 years of the Rifleman series that Lucas McCain killed 115 to 120 men, with 246 total killings on the show.  No wonder Mark turned out so weird, his dad was a killing machine !  There are even sites where the number of killings in each episode is detailed.
