Rather unoriginal, it could have been shot 20 years before, only difference being the technicolor. Only good thing is Susan Cabot (picked up because she was shorter than Murphy, I guess); rather annoying the fact that Marvin wasn't given the role of Johnny Sombrero: he's good , but not memorable. 5\10

Action scenes are very good in the best dynamic Siegel style. And the portrait of the Sheriff is for a 50s western a bit unusual (almost a parody).

Otherwise a routine western, but enjoyable. Also 5/10

I agree about Lee Marvin not having a big enough part here. Tarantino puts it best by calling it "a very well conceived and executed picture, as well as being obviously a Siegel picture." For me, the technicolor, some Sigelisms, Susan Cabot, Lee Marvin and Audie Murphy is more than enough to get a passing grade. But I tend to like these types of movies more than most. C+

The transfer is solid, nothing amazing. But I recommend Kino's Audie Murphy set.
