trust a man who wears both a belt and suspenders?

« #30 : June 28, 2017, 08:28:39 PM »

Sure I've heard of it, but I haven't seen it.

I'm not too much into westerns. I've seen some which I've enjoyed, but I really prefer mysteries and noir, along with comedies and dramas.

I'm not even sure if I've seen any Leone films. Hopefully that won't get me booted off this forum. Nah....the mods here are Gentlemen and they wouldn't do such a thing!

What gets you booted is denying Claudia Cardinale's sexiness  >:D

That's what a lot of guys on the film general board (on IMDb) used to say. They couldn't believe that a (straight) woman might be posting on an internet forum.

Nothing to do with an internet forum. What's not believable is that there is a 100% straight female anywhere  >:D

She was very pretty back in those days. I can see how a lot of guys would have drooled over her looks when watching The Pink Panther.

You should watch it, it could arguably be called a "Woman's Western."  ;)

Maybe someday, when I'm in the mood for westerns.

I really like Rachel and the Stranger. That one seems to be a "woman's western".

Others which I've seen and liked: The Ox-Bow Incident, Winchester '73, The Bravados, and several other western-mysteries.

Believe it or not last night was the first time I ever watched Sorry, Wrong Number. I liked it, don't mind Stanwick 8/10

Reading back through the thread though I do agree about the implausibility of the "crossed wires" explanation, however I did watch the film twice and the second go round I did notice a shot of Henry's office and the phone on his desk being off the hook. Now isn't it possible that one of the parties discussing the murder was using Henry's office phone and Leona got cut into that conversation? That would be way more believable.

Watching the film again I was paying attention to the sets and stock footage. The stuff with South Ferry, Lower Manhattan, and Staten Island Rapid Transit was real but Leona's apartment was a set. There were two views out her windows one south of the FDR drive and East River the other of the Queensboro Bridge. They were miniature sets, or a combo of miniature, matte painting, and some background projection. Interesting to note that the QB bridge had no Roosevelt/Welfare Island and when the two el trains crossed the span they did so on the wrong level. Another anachronistic mistake was that in 1948 there was no el trains running across the bridge so the radio play had to originally take place before WWII the el was gone scrapped by 1942.
