Well, I probably prefer Body Heat over Double Indemnity, which is for me overrated. But no doubt that I prefer Shane over Pale Rider, which is an often disappointing film.

How so?

In all the ways possible.

Little Big Man is a near masterpiece that most members of this board grossly underrate while My Name is Nobody is just a great film.

It seems that Little Big Man is a bit underrated meanwhile. Odd, but true. It is one of my 10 favourite westerns too.

My Name is Nobody is also one I love, but the balance between the twilight stuff and the parody does not always work. Still one of the best directed westerns ever for most of its runtime.

4. McCabe & Mrs. Miller
7. Man Of The West
16. The Big Gundown

I still haven't seen these ones, they may very well enter my top 20.

Nobody mentioned Heaven's Gate so far, I also have to see its director's cut.

I like it but I consider it more of a Comedy Western and would have it in a separate list, my ten best Comedy Westerns would be:

1. Support Your Local Sherrif
2. Little Big Man
3. Going South
4. The Ballad Of Cable Hogue
5. Destry Rides Again
6. North To Alaska
7. Cheyenne Social Club
8. The Rounders
9. My Name Is Nobody
10. A Big Hand For The Little Lady

Don't get me wrong, I like "Little Big Man" - you can't go wrong with an Arthur Penn and Dede Allen tag-team (along with Stanton I very much enjoy "Night Moves" in that regard). I just figured #3 of all time was very high. I also like "My Name is Nobody" (I even published an article on it), but I also think #7 is quite high there too.

I still haven't seen these ones, they may very well enter my top 20.

Nobody mentioned Heaven's Gate so far, I also have to see its director's cut.

"McCabe & Mrs. Miller" will definitely be in your list. You will love the cinematography. As for "Heaven's Gate", that is hands-down in my top10, although I have still to compile a list.

It is not not not not a comedy, despite being funny in places, and having some satirical potential. It is ultimately a deeply serious film. Like some others of your list.

I also separate western comedies, but only those which are in the first place a comedy and only then a western. Like The Trinity films, Blazing Saddles, The Paleface, Maverick, Pardners or that Marx Brothers films et in the West, and other stuff like that.

Both Tarantino westerns would be in my top 50 (with Hateful Eight far above Django Unchained).
Oh and I mentioned Josey Wales ;)

I didnít count Giu La Testa as a western. It would be in my top 10 if I did.

Now that you mention it :).
And neither QUIEN SABE? for that matter.
Damiani would be angry with me.
