Based on a L'Amour novel, this is all action.  But there is little credibility already in the first scene where a man is left hanging all alone and Calhoun can save him. But there is also a  too little credible and too convoluted  plot, no scenery (and the photography is b&w), the minor characters are (apart from Ray Teal) this side of amateurish and little or not defined and the teutsche frau playing the lead is neither pretty nor young looking (though it seems she was 27 at the time).  Calhoun wins a fistfight with Max Baer, who looks here like a bloated  McLaglen clone: he was 48 at the time and looks 10 years older. In fact he was to die of heart-attack 2 years later. Still as the pace is fast it's worth 6/10.
