Film Forum reopens Aug. 1 and they're starting off with a Jacques Becker retro! Lots of other good things are coming, including--Drink, get ready!--a 9 day run of When You Read This Letter! There will even be a 2-week showing of a restored Senso! Whoohoo!!

Jacques Becker retro begins at FF 2 weeks from today. I'm skipping all the stuff that's already out on disc and going for the rarer, more difficult to see stuff, as in, "Dernier Atout (1942), the first film to bear the words “Un film de Jacques Becker.” Goupi Mains Rouges (1943), a mystery, set in rural France, that has achieved cult status in France. One of Becker's most fascinating films is the rare Falbalas (1944). . . ."

sorry I mistyped the last message. I meant to say: I can usually leave at 7:00 and be there at 8:00, but on rare occasions I can leave at 6:00 and be there at 7:00 (takes an hour max for me to get to FF from work). So yeah, pick one good movie that is showing at 7:00 and I will try to make it. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday, please.

I saw this years ago and it was a bore. If you haven't seen Losey's post Hollywood work, I don't think you'll be much of a fan (I'm not), but if you've seen something and enjoyed it, then give it a shot.


Claudia, we need you to appear in LOST COMMAND. It's gonna revolutionize the war genre..

All I know about it is that Film Forum will be showing it, and the DVD seems to be rare, expensive and foreign (wasn't even sure if English subtitles), and the movie has a pretty good rating on IMDB (7.6/10), so I figured it was worth a shot. But if y'all tell me it's not a good movie, I guess you saved me a waste of time. Thanks  :)
