Hi, I know I enter here from time to time but I would like to report the following new.

This Sunday 13th July was commemorated the 25 anniversary Sergio Leone death in Almería, specially in the town of Aguas Calientes (Los Albaricoques). And for this event was recreated the final showdown The video was taken for my friends of Almeriacine group (association where I belong too)

nice, thanks for sharing!

can you tell us a little more about this event? was the music played live? how many people were there? was it the townsfolk, or were there lots of visitors from other places that came to see this? I assume this is the same circle that the duel in FAFDM was held  - what is it now? is it actually used as a threshing floor today? or does it function just as a tourist attraction?

I've seen some interesting stuff about that town - basically a little shitty town in middle of nowhere but with this great cinema history that it is very proud of; I've taken "trips" down its streets using Google Maps Streetview. Also, a GREAT source for stuff on that town of Los Albaricoques is THE LEE VAN CLEEF BLOG http://thebadnet.blogspot.com/2013/10/location-los-albaricoques.html

So, any info you can share would be awesome. I am sure there's lotsa stuff in Spanish, but any articles or websites in English would be great. Thanks!  O0

I remember reading that the "arena" was rebuilt/restored a few years ago.

Well, I think the event was promoted by Manuel Hernandez (the owner of the Hostal Alba) I´m not sure but he always is worring to do this kind of thing.
Most of the people traveled from Almería City and, of course, the people of the Los Albaricoques (Aguas Calientes) that always are willing to cooperation. The music and the voices (dialogs ) were taken from the  BSO (spanish dubbed) Some of the actors are stuntmen from western town of there

The circle is not an "arena"  and is the same place where the movie was filmed. This place is known in Spain, Mexico and South America as "The Era". A place where people from rural villages used to do "the trilla" (in spanish) I mean "threshing"
What is this? Well, is a process to separate the wheat from the hay. When the wheat is harvested is deposited in the ground inside the Era and then,  the farmer makes that some horses run above of this.  Finally the hay is thrown into the air with a fork and as the wheat is heavier... the wind separates him from the hay  8)

After a year the showdown was recreated again. In this case, to commemorate the 50 year since the movie was filmed. The Almeriacine group (friends of mine) made these videos.
The event was carried out the last weekend

Did you know there is an Agua Caliente Band of Indians?

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2023/10/18/president-joseph-r-biden-jr-approves-disaster-declaration-for-the-agua-caliente-band-of-cahuilla-indians/

The big question is, is Indio from that Band  >:D
