I think the GBU main theme ("Ayeayee,wah-wah-wah") is the most widespread movie sound/music ever.I has been featured in numerous films, series and commercials, and usually it has been presented in a humorous context.

Would it be possible to compile a list of all the films/series/commercials that include that legendary sound? If you can think of any,let me know.I can compile a list on the basis of your replies.

Speaking of worldspread scores, I also think about another magnificent Morriconce soundtrack, the worlwide famous "Mission" with De Niro and Irons?

But there's and explanation for this: imediately after the film release, Catholic church all around the world "adopted" the score as the catholic "official" music....

It is true that the magnificent sensibility of this score let us know God much better than plenty of monks....

there are surely far too many to even consider indexing them all.  I mean there must be an ad out in every country in the world which somewhere uses that clip.  I wonder how much moricone made from that song?  Royalty and advertising wise?

Its funny you brought it up, I just heard a new Buick commercial with Tiger Woods  and golfers of the past that uses it. Totally out of context, not impressed with it at all, but great to hear the theme.

There is currently a tv ad. running in atleast Finland using the theme song. Bertolli Pasta I think it is. Like 10 years ago I remeber some Camel Boots ad. or Camel Thropy.

U.S. motor oil commercial a few years back used GBU main title, Morricone arrangement; but I can't remember if it was Valvoline or Castrol.  Inspector Gadget used GBU title for showdown on the bridge (was actually a Pittsburgh bridge).

it has to be used in every spook ever, i don't think one person who ain't a leone fan could ever guess who wrote it, or that Moricone's work is far more exstensive than a few bars of whistling

I can add some GBU sound allusions here too.At least one episode of Xena had the sound. It was a humorous episode that I think took place at Christmas time. The sound was heard when Xena shot an arrow with a toy bow. Then the sound was used in the MTV Movie Awards 1999 when Will Smith rode on a horse to the stage.

Please send in all the GBU sound uses that you can remember!

Here are a couple of more:

- MTV Europe (and maybe MTV US too) has an ad with a cartoon cowboy. The sound is used at the beginning, before the cowboy starts dancing.

- A recent (?) Conan O'Brian show from this year had a bit where Conan interviewed "Presiden Bush" via video screen. The sound was used after all,or at least some, answers "Bush" gave.

Anyone remember the good ol' CB radio days in the '70s and even part of the '80s?  I don't know how widespread this was, but on the "road channel" (was ch.19 where I live), people used to key up their mikes and play the GBU theme over the air.  I thought it was amusing - and it was.  Even in the early '90s, when the CB briefly made a comeback (at least it did here where I live), people would key up and play the GBU theme over the air, but in the early '90s, technology was better than in the '70s and '80s and so, you could get a chip and have it put inside the radio.  Then, all you'd have to do is press a button or flick a switch on your radio, then just key up.  Way back in the '70s, I think you would have needed a tape recorder or some fancy, hand-held gadget that you would hold up to your mike, then key up and press the button on your gadget.  Anyone else remember those days of the GBU theme over the CB airwaves?

Somewhere on this board, there is a topic and post where someone explains how the sound/movie theme was created.  It's really interesting to read.   It does have to do with a hyena sound.

I don''t know if you know a brand of tires that sells here in Mexico the name is Uniroyal, about 20 years ago they used the GBU sound in one  commercial of a tire named "Laredo" (something like this: "Ayeayee, La-re-do")

Greetings from México (and sorry about my english, I think it''s worst than Tuco''s)
