Does anyone know whether this will contain the final flashback scene?

Is the DVD really coming out in the States and Canada in april 2005? All I have are recorded chopped up versions lifted from TV. Saw a version 2 years ago in a repertory house in Montréal with that seen where Juan frames Sean with that explosion. I did'nt remember ever seeing that scene before. Although I had seen the film back in the 70's when it came out, but it so long ago.
Those flashbacks really get to me.
Finally, I would love to find a full soundtrack on CD, I have a vinyl bought in the 70'S, but it has lots of bacon frying on it now. Can't get enough of the main theme and after the explosion. Play them all the time in the car, drives my passengers crazy.
Morricone is tops on my list...Duck, you sucker!

Seanseansean,
The full soundtrack does exist on cd, on the Cinevox label from Italy. It goes by it's Italian name 'Giu La Testa'.

It might be difficult to find it in Montreal (I'm from there too!),
but you can order it online.

If you want to find it in Montreal, try Cheap Thrills on Metcalfe, near McGill University, or the HMV on ste. catherine's st.
It's out there, but not readily available. Good luck!

Thank you Warwick for the CD information. I'm off to lQQk for it.
Again, does any one know if the DVD will be available in Canada?
MGM.com does'nt mention it. Green acres and Mr Ed is coming though. Go figure!
There is a DVD at MGMUK but the 147 min. version,  in mono sound to boot. Not playable in America, in any case.
Just hope an eventual american release will be filled with all the goodies. This film definetly deserves wider recognition.
Here's to you, Giù la testa!

look under  DUCK YOU SUCKER
it's $18 American

As far as I can determine, the film was released in MONO not stereo

I too would like to get the DVD.  I also a TV version where Juan implicates John in the Revolution, but this was not in the original screen release in 1971 under Duck You Sucker.  I would like to get the complete movie or uncut version of this thing.  Can anyone help?

Are you guys talking about the scene where Juan forces Sean to detonate early, killing the mine owner Sean is working for? That was not in the original North American prints but was put back as part of the 1996 restoration effort (I think a total of 20 minutes were restored to the whole movie). Anway, as I read that scene, Juan wasn't necessarily trying to get Sean into the revolution, it just worked out that way. Then later, to get back at Juan, Sean tricked him into freeing the prisoners in the bank, thus ensuring that Juan would become a "grand, glorious hero of the revolution." These guys were playing tit-for-tat (not unlike Monco and Mortimer with the hat shooting scene in FAFDM) and incidently establishing their revolutionary reps in the process. No doubt this is SL's wry comment on the making of legends......

Can't wait to see this DVD, it will effectively cap the string of (SW) Zapata Westerns I have, still a few American versions to re view ie., Viva Zapata, Villa Rides, Viva Villa.

I was just checking the BBFC site, and I've got grave news of the special edition.

A version entitled Duck You Sucker was submitted and thereby cut by 6 seconds to remove two horsefalls (I think I know what they were) in line with their policy concerning animal treatment. See for yourselves.

From the BBFC site:
"To obtain this category cuts of 0m 6s were required. The cuts were Compulsory.
Cuts required to remove two shots of a dangerous horse fall in accordance with BBFC policy on animal cruelty."

What do you think.

Personally I don't think it would have been as bad as the cow getting run over in O Brother Where Art Thou, but then that may have something to do with computers.  What constitutes a dangerous horsefall?  The Grand National is on live on the BBC every year and probably results in the death of two horses on average.  It also loses me money.  Here's some info on the R2 version.

Does anyone know whether this will contain the final flashback scene?

From what I've been told and having been witness to the BFI restoration some years back, I'd say that this new edition will be the same as the existing Region 2 pal edition PLUS the embarrisingly long extended flashback.

In fact I know that it will contain the extended flashback.

The extras are of course welcome, but if theres anything else added, than that you already know about, then I'll be very surpised.
