ok well i took matters into my own hands

i spent 1 whole hour searching for a virtual keyboard program which worked

i then spent 1 whole hour trying to play the tune from my head, made difficult by the fact that i cant play the piano whatsoever, and further more i was having to use my keyboard keys and the layout really sucked

but with trial and error, note by note, and then trial run by test run, i managed to play the whole thing and record it to a satisfactory degree of quality! (25th full-run attempt or something, kept miss-pressing or getting the timings messed up)

Definitely not.

That tune is played several times throughout the film, most notably when the bridge is blown up and during the flashbacks.

The greatest explosion i've ever seen was in duck you sucker. Im talkin about the blowup of the bridge, it was just  stunning with the great morricone score. I hate thoose fake computeranimated explosions in the action flicks nowadays, the explosion of the bridge was just perfect, don't u agree

Yes the GIU LA TESTA bridge blast is splendid. The set builders must have done a great job too, as the remains are still sitting there in an Almerian gully today. Must visit the place someday.

 Thought I'd revive an old topic.

  How about the bridge explosion in Bridge on the River Kwai?  That whole final sequence is brilliant climaxing with the explosion and the train plunging into the river.

  No matter how many times I see this movie I hope that Shears and Joyce make it, knowing full well they won't.

actually, on the apocalypse now dvd, there is a missing scene called "destruction of the kurts compound", and it's absolutely amazing with all the different colours of the naplam, its really great

Seeing Leon try to take on that theme from FoD inspired me to try myself. I've been using MIDI as a hobby for about ten years now.

I can't promise it'll be in the right key, or if the chords are spot-on, since I haven't seen this movie in a long time. (And if MGM/Sony would get on with it and release the R1 DVD already, I wouldn't have this problem!) But I think it turned out pretty well considering.

And since it's only about 15-20 minutes worth of work (I don't play piano yet, so I have to enter these notes by hand on the "staff paper"), it's more of a teaser than anything.

This sequence was included in full on the origional British release prints, so for me to see the film now, without this psychedelic destruction, always felt odd. Coppola would rather we see it without, I always want to see it intact.

It was one of the few movies I ever saw at the cinema where most of the audience would sit and watch the explosive credits*, with its Greatful Dead percussion section music. Great stuff.

*The Mothership ending of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS was another one.
