I have it, I'll try to watch it soon. At italian IMDB the review is enthusiastic and there's a QT quotation as being an insoiration for his Kill Bill!

There's an Italian disc available (of course no English options...) but it's one those kiosk or whatever releases which aren't available at online stores (I believe there's probably over 100 SW DVDs like that in Italy already) and hardly ever show up at Ebay.

Tarantino is quoted at italian SWDB as dubbing this as "a true masterpiece". Another reason not to read T.'s interviews.
I wondered throughout the vision (diluted in three sessions) if the director was balmy or on his cups. If they had a story (can't imagine a screenplay) when they started shooting or improvised day by day. Well, it doesn't matter, one would say, if that means showing miss Machiavelli's (and\or miss Solinas's) graces to greater advantage. And I'd wholly agree. But unfortunately the movie was made in 1967, a year before female nudes started being tolerated by censorship. So, unless more explicit scenes were shot for the french market (which I can't exclude) this movie gets my thumb down. Actually the only reason to  make it interesting (miss Machiavelli's presence apart) is Camaso's performance as a clear anticipation of Kinsky's character in The Beast. Of course he doesn't have an inch of Kinsky's (or his brother's) talent, but still it is intersting watching him play a no-holds-barred character always looking for available females.
The story (what I could make out of it) is about some guns trafficking on mexican border at the time of Maximilian's rule. French soldiers are sent on a mission to block it and with the help of Machiavelli (the niece of Margarita Gautier, figure that!) they'll successfully manage to accomplish their mission, though miss Machiavelli's beau (you have to see him to believe he is the beau of the story) he's killed.
The score gets kudos at SWDB, can't see why. Shot in Sardinia. 2\10
