I love this movie to bits, and I'll definitely get this blu-ray. I was quietly hoping Criterion would add more stuff to this release since its initial announcement tho... Eddie Muller has it at the #10 spot in his top 25 noirs (http://eddiemuller.com/top25noir.html), surely he'd be willing to do a commentary or something?

Sure he would. He'd also like to get paid for the effort. Such things add to Criterion's overhead and make it more difficult for them to turn a profit. This is not a title that is going get a lot of sales.

I'm conflicted on this one. I generally appreciate nice restorations, but this film is famous for being low-budget. Further, it gained its reputation as a classic while in terrible, beat-to-hell PD print form. Some of those unintended jump cuts really sell the film as a document of seediness. I guess it would be nice to have a Blu-ray that offers both a restoration of Ulmer's "original intent" as well as a "restoration" of the work in the form it is known for.
