Now that I have the SE dvd, I must admit that the most interesting thing here was the prologue. Shot actually by Monte Hellman, with a way too short stand in for Clint, and Harry Dean Stanton as the judge. The poncho doesn't in anyway look like the one Clint wears (twice as long). Shot mostly from the back, we never see the strangers face. That is, until some tv editor decided to cut in a shot from the film a couple of times. It doesn't even come close to matching the lighting in the Hellman shot sequences. A hilarious curiosity piece.

That sounds pretty funny. I hadn't heard that they cut shots of Eastwood into the prologue. That's gotta look great. Grin

Only one shot, but it does appear twice doesn't it? Or am I getting senile? I saw it last week.

I once told a mate about the original idea of the genesis of Eastwood's charactor & motive while in a pub.
