Has anyone ever wondered how No Name would have reacted if the gunmen, fearing that he might be too quick on the draw, had given in to his demand and sheepishly offered up their humble apologies for any offence they might have caused the unfortunate animal? Smiley

The film would've been 12 minutes long?

Maybe for fun, we could make an alternate happy ending in the style of the dreaded fake intro, that just cuts straight from Eastwood's "now if you apologise like I know you're gong to..." line to a scene of the gunmen all apoligising to the mule, after which we see Ramon and Baxter shaking hands and making up, saying the humbleness and maturity shown by the gunmen made them realise just how insignificant their petty quarrels were.

And all they had to do was say one little word...

I think I can help here.
What would have happened if they appologised is that
they would all agreed to form a polite debating society.
With Clint dealing with waywood cowboys by issuing
them with ASBO's instead of shooting them. This would
result in sequels For a Few ASBO's More.and the Good
the Bad and the Unsociable. No problems getting passed the censor but a failure at the box office.

Great question.
Here's my story.
First of all they would have to locate the mule which scampers off to the left of the screen causing them to go into the black on the side of the screen unless of course it was wide screen. Then, he would graciously accept their apologies
Now the problem.  The point is he has to prove himself worthy of the Rojo gang. he would enter the Rojo's Don Miguel would say sorry your not our type you Americano. Estaban would return home and "snuff him out". Leading to sequiles such as You Only Live Twice and the Good the Bad and the Undead.  This obviously steals poor Sean Conery's future as a great actor.

Unhappy ending huh?

Well then my dear Poggle I will tell you.
The movie would end 2 minutes afterward with Clint smiting all the Rojos into oblivion and then go join the baxters becuase they are the only ones who are kind to him. The title also would change because he never got a pinchful of dollars at the least. It would have to be "I'm broke because I killed everyone in the fist scene"

What did happen to that mule anyway? Did he actually ride him again, or was the mule so hurt that he ran off into the desert?

When he rides off at the end he takes the grave digger's mule which could be his in the first place. But what horse did he use during the movie? One of the Rojo's?

LOL this is one of the funniest threads in the history of this website, IMO.  I remember one night I came home really depressed and read this one, and it really brightened up my day.  That, and the alligators behind the Baxter house.  Grin
