When I first watched it, I thought: Here, a totally perfect movie. Then I saw FAFDM: Hey, this is maybe more perfect! And then GBU: This man was a GOD!
Sergio is a GOD and we're all his disciples.

I think it all is relative to your perspective. If all you had seen before were typical American Westerns this was quite different when it first came out.
Its the same way with Stagecoach, when I look at all I see is a typical AW, but when I read about how different it was from what was produced before in its time and setting, then it gains respect.

I love Stagecoach. It's amazing how well the action sequences hold up today. Great direction here by Mr. Ford.

Kick me, but I like the ending better in 1966 Stagecoach remake than in the original version. and Ann-Margret was yummy as Dallas. Oh, yes: saw this also in theater first run....maybe lucky in some ways to be older....

Digital restoration sucks like Paris Hilton! (Thank you, Silenzio, for this great metaphor
) It's like not wiping your ass but painting it instead! Luckily Scorsese is working on a restoration also, and he will make sure that every single frame of the original source becomes as clear as possible, I'm positive about that.
