Funny you should say that. When I first saw it, I thought it was blurred on the TV screen so my mom went up and wiped it....... Grin Grin Grin

Now that I see it again it really isn't that bad. Could just be the dust from the battle. But there are sort of wrinkles in some places.

when you first see it it looks like a poster that has been creased but if you look closer its actually mountains, but its still a painting though, and still pretty obvious, not that i mind, kinda gives it the impression youre watching a play

Looks like some stairs leading up to the window..is that how TUCO is supposed to have got up to the window

That doesnt look like a mat painting to me.

However there is a processed shot in the "Good the bad and the ugly" in one of the deleted scenes.

The scene is Tuco and Blondie having left the mission and are traveling on stagecoach and passing through the remains of a battle. There is a shot that is facing the pair on the stagecoach, the Almerian back drop shown is clearly processed. Its a rear projection shot. Anybody noticed this?

I took a really close look and came to the conclusion that it IS painted scenery. The reason is that if you look on Tuco's forehead you can see studio light reflection. Those arc lamps are only used in studios. Leone did use them outdoors in his films for a sunburnt lighting effect but they couldn't fit such lighting in a small room unless it's a studio.

I'm talking about the circular light on the left side not facing the window. There's an alternate light source. It was a studio.

They could have done lighting inside the building.
That cannot be a mat painting.

Surely a more meticolous director wudda found a more suitable location than resort to cheating-and then getting found out Grin
