I know we shouldn't be too off from the thread, but thank you for your comment.

If "Yojimbo" is a rhapsody of desolate winter, "Sanjuro" is a rondo of spring. They are good companion to each other. I love them both.

Enjoy "Ikiru" and "Red Beard". They are more serious films. Let me know what you think of them in Off Topic Forum.

Will do.

My username is pretty obvious too. When I signed up here I had just started my Leone-esque western called " The Peacemaker. " Besides I love that name, it sounds so cool.

Ooops, I have not talked about my username, have I? As many of you may know already, Sanjuro is a hero's name in Akira Kurosawa's "Yojimbo" and "Sanjuro (Tsubaki)". Clint Eastwood's character in "A Fistful of Dollars" is based on Sanjuro in "Yojimbo". You know that already too.

I think mine is pretty self explanatory  Grin. Sanjuro, I've seen (and owned) Yojimbo many times but never got around to seeing Sanjuro, is it worth spending my hard earnered dollars and dimes on the Criterion?

Ha, my case is totally the other way around. I don't have "Yojimbo" DVD from Criterion but I do have "Sanjuro" DVD from them. The reason I don't want Criterion version of "Yojimbo" is that the title sequence is written in English. That's a big turn off for me. It's gotta be the original dynamic brush stroke Japanese titles. So my "Yojimbo" DVD is a Hong Kong Version. But I'm trying to buy Japanese DVD from Toho.

"Sanjuro" from Criterion is worth buying it. Good transfer. Film itself is great too. Quite a comedy. My only complain is that the credits in Japanese are chopped on either side (just slightly). But that won't bother you.

Wait for the remastered edition, out soon (maybe December). I have the Toho DVD (which doesn't have sub-titles) and Criterion will undoubtedly use the same source for their disc, so the re-release should look fantastic (the Toho certainly does).

Thanks Dave and Sanjuro, another to add to the Criterion To Buy list. I hope they release Keane.

I assumed it had to do with the Colt Peacemaker.

Well nobody 'll ever guess where I got my name from, so I'm not telling.  Cheesy

Silenzio, I've been to (although not in) that lake in your signature. It's in a pretty grim part of of south east London.

I was talking about Sanjuro, but Criterion will be re-releasing both at the same time, probably.

Thank you, Dave. You seem well informed. Does a man's life depends on any scrap of information in your town?

I actually noticed that when i was watching the film. Of course, as you said, it didn't bother me at all, but I did notice it.

Just got done with Ikiru, and will probably start a thread about it.
