yup, they play a recording of the song from GBU, and when they play stadiums with a screen, they show the video of the scene from the movie. eg. here it is in Yankee Stadium http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E15oy02kHXI

I've yet to hear of any Metallica fans on this board besides me.

I've been to three of their concerts (one in Madison Square Garden in New York City; two in Nassau Coliseum on Long Island); I didn't go to the Yankee Stadium show cuz it was not a typical show with Metallica headlining: it was called  THE BIG FOUR with there other heavy metal legends: Anthrax, Slayer, and Megadeth) so when tickets went on sale, I wondered if they would do a normal set [ which is usually 2-2.5 hours] so I figured, I've been to 3 of their normal shows why do I need to go to a show with 3 bands I don't care about. I then forgot about it for a few months, till after the show was over. By that time I regretted not going. I don't know if they played a normal set but it doesn't matter, it would have been awesome to see the boys in Yankee Stadium.

Oh well, I'll see 'em next time they come 'round the Big Apple.

And on that note, I am still still hoping that Ennio Morricone will do a show around here too someday. Unfortunately, seems like he has been sticking to Italy lately.
(How about the 'Tallica boys and the Maestro co-headlining a show?  Wink)

I own every Metallica album from Kill 'Em All to Death Magnetic (Master of Puppets I have on both CD and vinyl), but I'm not sure if I would call myself a real fan anymore. My interest in music has shifted elsewhere (I still listen to some heavy metal but now I listen all other kinds of stuff, too) and I can't remember when was the last time I listened to them. But the first four or five albums will always be dear to me, in a way. I saw them play live in 2006 when I was sixteen, and the moment when Ecstasy of Gold started playing will probably stay with me forever (Metallica and Leone were like the most important things in my life back then).

FUCK YEAH  Evil Evil Evil Evil

They haven't made good music in over two decades, but their 80's shit will remain the greatest music ever made.

I too have hardly listened much to them in quite a while; they don't make good shit anymore, and there are only so many times I can listen to the same albums over and over again. But they are still a great live show, and I see them every time I can. And I'll also be grateful to them for introducing me to Leone. (And I only started listening to classical music after their S&M concert introduced me to that stuff. And I only started getting into art (paintings) after I was introduced to it by Leone. So one art form introduces a person to another  Afro)

Very interesting backstory there, did you walk into GBU with any expectations when you first saw it?

No expectations.  We who knew who Clint was from Rawhide, and GBU (Montenegro version) was a hit on the radio, and we liked westerns.  No advertising here in Phoenix at all, never saw a trailer.  It was 1968 and I was 15.

We couldn't figure out in the title sequence why there were so many Italian names.
