The new western hero

I think one of the reasons for the extincting western is that there is no refreshing appearance that would fit in a modern western...  Think about it, you had John Wayne, than Clint Eastwood, who had an appearance never seen before in a western.  He changed the image of what a quintessential western actor should be.  Can you think of anyone nowadays who would make a great western icon?  I dunno, maybe this all sounds ridiculous, but think about it...  Which actor would you like to see in a western?

Maybe Al Pacino would be an unexpected but good try...

I know John Cusack did a western a couple of years ago, called 'The Jack Bull'.  Has anyone seen it?  Is it any good?

Maybe De Niro should try a western.  Or Jack Nicholson.  You never know how they would pull it off...

possibly Il Buono, but how funny is Terence Hill and Clint is hilarious especially in FFDM not through his lines just his facial expressions (or non expressions) and the air of anticipation he brings every time he walks into the saloon. It cracks me up!
So if Bruce worked under a director (Raimi?) who used him properly and gave that air of spaghetti coolness it could be dynamite (and funny).

I saw the trailer of X-men 2 a short time ago and I thought maybe Hugh Jackson would be a cool western hero and could bring some attention to the genre.  Think about it: he's not one of the ugliest, so the film would draw a lot of female viewers, he played Wolverine so the teenage audience would certainly be interested to see their superhero again.  Cast him with another popular star-actor and the more adult people are sold.  Plus a light beard looks good on him, he's not too smooth like a DiCaprio, he's got the enigma of being a rising star, he's got enough charisma to be taken seriously...  I tell you, he could be a good western hero.

I am just saying this for all directors on board who were considering to cast Tom Hanks for their western...  Nothing against Tom, but in a western?

Bruce is a good straight actor; I watched him in an episode of "The X-Files" ("Terms of Endearment", where he was a demon who wanted to have a human child) and he did pretty good in a role with not a touch of comicness in it.

Originally back in the 60´s ´HELP´ was going to be a western.  Their are stills that exist of Beatles dressed up as cowboys
