Ok, a new topic.

I would like to know who is your favourite actor. Who's the best actor in the history of cinema in your opinion.

You must name a single actor, you can't say: "I like X very much but I also like Y".

No. Just one actor, that's all.

To me, the best actor in history is Marlon Brando.

What do you guys think?

 Hudson's Bay (1940)

We Are Not Alone (1939)
The Good Earth (1937)
The Life of Emile Zola (1937)
The Story of Louis Pasteur (1936)
Black Fury (1935)
Bordertown (1935)
Dr. Socrates (1935)
Hi Nellie! (1934)
The World Changes (1933)

Al Pacino, definitely.  But I also like... no haha, had you for a moment!

No, I think his roles in Scent of a Woman was a goddamn riot!!  He also played very strong in Sea of Love and Donnie Brasco.  Still kicking and alive, Al Pacino.

Probably De Niro, although some of his recent roles have not been very interesting[but maybe after having given the cinema a huge number of unforgettable performances he just wants to have some fun].

I would also rate very highly

Marlon Brando
Al Pacino
Gerald Depardieau
Johnny Depp
Peter Sellers
James Stewart
Gary Oldman
Errol Flynn[the best action hero?]
James Woods

I,ll probably think of others!

De Niro gave a very fine performance recently in 'City by the Sea' I think.

ps.  You forgot Clint!

My favorite actor is Clint Eastwood. He doesn't often get enough credit for his acting, I think. His acting really shows through in movies like The Bridges of Madison County, In the Line of Fire, Unforgiven, Josey Wales, Tightrope, and The Beguiled.

If we're looking at best actors, I'd probably say Dustin Hoffman. Hoffman can play ANYTHING. I remember reading once where he said that he never wanted to be typecasted, and he's about the only actor I can think of who's been successful without being typecast. Looking at movies like The Graduate (one of my favorites), Rain Man, Tootsie, Kramer vs. Kramer, and Marathon Man, and you see how so different they are.

Yeah,I forgot Dustin Hoffmann,I love his performance in Straw Dogs best.

As for Clint,I agree that he is a very good actor but I would love him to stretch himself a bit-now he is older and not as 'big' as he used to be.I think he would make a great villain,I mean a real villain as opposed to a Leone-type anti-hero.There are underlying dark elements in many of his roles-[Man With No Name,Dirty Harry, his character in Tightrope, for example],I would like to see them all come to the fore!

I must concur - however, I don't think Clint will be acting too much longer.  :'(

clint eastwood singly-handedly created a charector the same way james dean would.  luckly for mr. eastwood, he lived long enough to take his persona boldly were no man has gone before.

and the winner is: edward g. robinson !

the mind boggles. it's gotta be bogie, but how do you sit down and figure the answer to this question ?

dyno-mite topic  ;)
