Hi all,

I'm just wondering if I'm missing some footage on my FOD DVD? I'm sure in the many viewings on TV I watched over the years I remember after manko get beaten up and taken to the mine Silvanito pays him a visit with some food and gives him the .45 to practice with. On my DVD the first scene in the mine is manko shooting and Silvanito isn't seen at the mine at all. My DVD is an Australian release and run time is 95:45

Thanks

That scene isn't in the old UK video release either. I've yet to see the new MGM special edition DVD

It's class.

Silvanito also supplies Joe with some explosives "it's dynamite".

Heeeeeyyyy!!  >:(

You guys are right! I do remember that scene, and it's not on the U.S. DVD that I bought a couple of years ago!!  [EDIT: LATER NOTE -- SEE POST BELOW -- I MAY BE WRONG ABOUT THIS; I THINK WE'RE CONFUSING TWO SEPARATE SCENES.]

I still have a copy of FISTFUL that I taped off late-night TV in 1997. I'm gonna check that and see if it's there!

Is it Silvanito or the coffin maker, I seem to remember that it was the coffin maker that brings the dynamite. He say's something like "stolen from the Rojo's, eets dynamite Joe, I theenk eets time to light eet and send eet back to them".

Cigar - I believe you are correct - the coffin maker.  I haven't checked my Region 1 DVD from a few years ago to see if that's on it.

Could someone confirm this, or even better, post some screenshots of the scene in question? 8)

arrrrgh MGM is driving me crazy! First the issues with FAFDM, (completely out of sync - missing/trimmed footage) and now this? Why is it that the fans have to catch mistakes like this???!!! A simple look at the running time would have raised a flag. That scene is on all of the old versions, I remember it well. It better be on the new German discs.  MGM, get your act together!

The new German discs will be released through Paramount, MGM doesn't have anything to do with it. But that doesn't mean much, as the missing scenes on the recent release of "The Genius" have shown. ::)

Can someone confirm that the scene in question is missing from the recent UK special edition by MGM?

Btw, here's a comparison chart of plot elements in Yojimbo, FOD & Last Man Standing at the BBC website. It seems to confirm the existence of said scene.

Thanks a lot LE BON! That should end the discussion, I suppose. Now, I just hope Paramount doesn't screw it up again. ;D

i think the old coffin maker said it's time you lit the fuse and send it back. he then slaps his hads together as in we've got work to do. the old coffin maker supplys joe w/ ammo probably food and shelter not to mention news that his friend silvnito is alright.
