I guess, at the end of the day, Tuco has been starving in a prisoner of war camp for days, and will gulp down anything, as long as its not poisoned! We even hear his belly rumble, a brilliant little bit of comedy which I don't recall ever hearing in any other film (?).

He betrays a refined nose later when taking a bath, as he sniffs a little unsurely at some bath salts, only to chuck in the lot.

Going back to food and drink in other Leone films, look at Noodles. He is even named after the Chinese equivelant of spaghetti! Maybe ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA is the one and only "Noodles Western"?

And look at the way his gang, when they are kids, translate money into food. Instead of rolling the drunk they could have got cash to buy beef "on poppy seed rolls." By rolling the drunk they get the watch, get Max, get Fartface and get destroyed.

Noodles tries to impress Deborah by hiring an entier restaurant, and the gang are wealthy as adults through selling booze.

Without dragging out my vids, does Eastwood ever eat or drink in a Leone flick? He tries to drink water in THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY, but Tuco won't let him.

ETA: Noodles gets his one good idea, which makes his gang rich, when he uses a food essential, salt, to recover booze for the established mob.

"We put salt on our Noodles!"

Yeah! Me too - I dig stews with loads of chili and garlic - and I detest the sight and smell of a fat and sweaty McDonalds hamburger, for instance.

There is a time for heavy stews - in the winter, at least here in the north of Europe or in the mountains further south - and a time for lighter food like salads with lighter wine - in the summer.

Which reminds me - in an hour or so I'm off for the weekend to an island in Denmark for some North Sea seafood and some good wine with some good friends. And I'm hungry! Have a nice weekend everybody  8)

If I understand correctly, there was some pot people would make in the winter with all the left overs from the year. Everything would go in one pot. The French had a name for it.

He drinks from the well in the opening scene of Fo$. I think he is later shown drinking at the Rojo's party, saying something like "You heard Ramon, let's all have a good time!"

I'm pretty sure he drinks whiskey with Mortimer when they decide to team up after the hat-shooting scene.

I can't think of a single scene where he eats though...

It's class.
