The Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More SE dvd's have just been released in Australia. I picked up the FAFDM dvd and it seems to be exactly the same as the UK release (from what I've read). The transfer is far superior to the last one available and it's great to have a nice new version. I'm not sure when Dynamite will be out here, but I guess it won't be far away. The question is, I suppose, when will MGM release the new editions in the US?

Hey Walton! Thanks for the news. Can you keep us updated on the Australian (R4) version of Dynamite. As the UK version is cut I'm hoping that the R4 version will be the best English language edition around (without the BBFC's meddling). Many Thanks.

Will do - I asked at my local dvd store when they thought Dynamite would be out but they had no release date for it. I'll let you know as soon as it appears...

Out of curiousity, Walton, how are they packaged? Amaray case or digipak?

Yes, those are the ones. They are in a plastic two disc pack which I've only ever heard described as a 'keep case' but it seems to be the most commonly used dvd packaging. I actually haven't heard the terms Amaray and digipak, so I'm not sure which of these it is...

Then those are Amarays. It is just the trademarked name those plastic "keep cases" got from the manufacturer.

A "digipak" is made out of cardboard with a transparent plastic tray glued onto it to hold the discs. It would look like this:

I tried, but the store said that all the dvds in the entire shipment they got, was missing the booklet.

They always just do limited runs. Eventually they faze out the digipack once the warehouse is empty. Then its just a standard amaray case.
I know somebody who recently got paramount's R2 OUATITW in a sale. Its still been sold in that rather fine looking digipack but the booklet has been fazed out.

P.S. Theres always been some rumours that digipacks can help disc rot in your beloved films after a couple of years.

Well, I checked today and still no solid indication of when Dynamite will be out here, at least not from my local dvd store. Will post as soon as it appears...

Man, I want this so badly I'm almost sick with desire.  Does anyone know if there are plans to make a similar release in North America?

I know people in the States who have ordered these disks via Xploited cinema. See link below then page through to find the disks. They also stock the version with wooden presentation case and pocket watch.
