I guess it reminds me of this painting from the dt2 audio book, (Roland was of course based on the Man with no Name - King has said so a few times)

i dont know how far youve gotten ahead in the series so i wont spoil anything but....

notice something about ROLANDS face. who does he kinda look like....

STEPHEN KING himself

there is a chapter in the later part of the series that also mentions what i stated. it wasnt till i read it that i realized in pretty much all the cover art he looks like KING

What???!!

I have read the whole series, but I don't think this picture looks anything like King! I don't think Phil Hale had King in mind when he painted this, he had Eastwood, and maybe the Road Warrior in mind - but why would he paint King as Roland in 1987 (when this painting was done) - King didn't know the plot of the series way back then - in fact he wrote in a lot of his intros that he didn't know where the story was going....

are u sure u dont remember in the sixth book. when ROLAND and EDDIE go to visit KING eddie notices roland looks almost exactly like stephen king.

it says it clearly.

CLINT was only in mind as far as how the character would act and carry himself. but roland is definatly suppose to look like king(facially)

perhaps we should continue this discussion in another thread....but Roland is the lead character in King's Dark Tower series- he is partially based on the man with no name. (the films are actually mentioned in the stories themselves as well)

here's another still for you - for those who haven't seen it before, I think you'll really dig it.....for those who have, you probably haven't seen it this large....

Derring - I believe the term is "stabismus", as I have a micro-strabismus (my eyeglasses contain prisims to help overcome this).  I have no idea if Van Cleef had strabismus.

Here's a few from a publicity shoot....

This one's usually reproduced in B & W - here it is in colour....

Here's a similar shot in b&w but in a rare wider framing, I might have this one in colour as well but I'll have to check....

Here's another fairly rare shot - note Eastwood is brandishing a shotgun!
