i was watching once upon a time in the west and i noticed that the voices are dubbed in some areas. i have seen the good the bad and the ugly before but was i can't remember if this film has the same treatment.

on the new special edition DVD are the voices off sinc with the mouths?

All Sergio Leone's westerns are dubbed, everywhere. They didn't record sound when filming.

technically they are all post-synchronized... not really dubbed... it's not like the sound doesn't match up with the video... they are speaking english during filming and when post-synchronized... they just record the sound later... the reason you only realize it with some characters is because some actors are better than others at post-sychronizing their voices to the video.

Have just finished readng the article about Eli Wallach.

Amazing thing, Eli and Clint were called to add some dialogue in the new DVD release, nearly 40 years after!!!
