Speaking of Clint Eastwood films, has anyone seen Wolfgang Petersen's "In The Line Of Fire" with of course, Clint, John Malkovich, Renee Russo and, one more time, Morricone's soundtrack?

A really great movie.

I remember watching it after it came out on video (I was a bit young to see it in the theater). It was the first movie that I ever saw with John Malkovich in it, ever since I've been a big fan of his. Of course, I've always been a BIG fan of Eastwood's, and his performance is really great in it too. It's just I remember so vividly how chilling Malkovich's performance was. I've got the speacial edition DVD of this one. It's a good disc too, a lot of great extra stuff on it.

Yeah, very good film,I think it was the last really good film Eastwood has done.Despite much of the film consisting of phone conversations between Easwood and Malkovich,it is very suspenseful,Malcovich is truly scary and Eastwood is a fine aging hero. The build-up to the climax is terrific-I think Wolfgang Peterson is an under-rated director.THe Morricone score is very good-I particularly like his love theme for the film, which is one of his most beautiful.

Indeed, it is a nice film.  Maybe not entirely original, but still very decent scenario with a great Clint and great suspense.  Nice one.

It's strange, before I saw the movie whole, I tried to look at it three times and I fell asleep.  When I watched the fourth time, I stayed up and enjoyed it very much...

Well, I don't know about that. A Perfect World was out the same year as that, and then The Bridges of Madison County was out within a few years later. ;)

But back to the subject, I agree that it is a great, suspenseful film. Probably one of the best of it's kind in recent years. Malkovich will forever be a psychopath because this was the first movie I saw him in. And it's one of Eastwood's best, and emotional, performances of his career.

If you like Wolfgang Petersen I recomend a very beautiful film, and very touching for those as me who are sailormen: "The Perfect Storm". It's not a great film but it's very beautiful.

You have to see also the german movie "Das Boot", the history of a german submarine and its crew in the WWII. This is a GREAT film.

I agree totally, both films are good, particularly Das Boot, possibly the best submarine film of all time.i even enjyed Peterson's Outbreak, very silly, but a good, entertaining thriller. But,yeah,Das Boot is probably his best, totally gripping despite being set almost entirely in one setting.

Not hard to beat "U-571", though is it? ;D

Actually, I wouldn't know, because I haven't seen it :-\  But with Jon Bon Jovi in it, there's reason to presume that the film is not quite a classic.  So there is reasonable doubt, but still I bet he can't match the level of 'Das Boot' because Das Boot kicks the Hunt for Red October's ass  ;D...

I agree, Das Boot is the submarine movie above all others.

In the Line of Fire is one of my favourite Clint movies.

The directing by Wolfgang was sweet. I've seen two of his other films, 'Air Force One' and 'The Perfect Storm', while 'Air Force One' was fun, 'The Perfect Storm' is better.

But they dont compare to In the Line of Fire. And Im sure they dont compare to Das Boot.
